TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For Today- 3/21: We are seeing this moisture slipping further north than initially expected. Look for areas of high clouds through the day lowering and thickening as the day progresses. Snow showers will start earliest on the higher terrain and divide and move south as the sun sets. Warm temperatures will produce more high gray ceiling than snow until we see better dynamics.
Temperatures: Lows reached 11 for Crested Butte and 13 for Gunnison. Highs will pop with this southern surge to 41 for CB and 44 for Gunni early. Lows tonight will stay warm with the clouds but will hit the high to mid 20’s.
Outlook: Under normal circumstances this system would be very promising but the warm temperatures will steal a lot of the potential. Look for more warm temperatures to start Thursday with high gray clouds socking in the valley offering a collection of traces through early afternoon. Look for 1-3 through the afternoon up high and 1 or less at the lower floors until temperatures drop overnight. Our best snow will come in strong waves through Friday morning tapering as the day progresses but ultimately this storm will be hobbled by the temperatures. Storm totals will be 4-8 up high unless we find a good strong band with 2-4 for Gunnison and the full variety pack including thunder possible before it clears.
