The end of the latest surge but still an active day.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For Today- 7/21: We are seeing this high pressure ridge move back to the west effectively capping the southern plume and ushering in drying conditions for the weekend. We will see a final surge with all of western CO under a flashflood watch after 2 days of wetting rains. Expect conditions a lot like yesterday with clouds filling in around noon and heavy slow moving cells cycling through the area before dissipating into the evening. These are thin and hit or miss but worth preparing for.
Temperatures: Overnight lows have stayed steady at 45 for Crested Butte and 50 for Gunnison. Highs will reach 74 again for CB and 84 for Gunni by the afternoon. Lows tonight will be slightly cooler by Saturday morning.
Outlook: We are headed for a drier weekend with precipitable water levels dropping from over an inch to half that but a well saturated atmosphere will keep producing thunder cells through the afternoons especially on the higher terrain. Expect longer windows of sunshine and storms to dissipate in the evening but also more aggressive and electric cells as they form. Enjoy the sun but have a plan.
