Collecting tiny flakes.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update: 12/6/13 For Today: Cold temperatures are not going anywhere today and this will dictate our weather with fog forming around Blue Mesa and in the lower river valleys while the higher elevations see the cold wringing any left over moisture out of the atmosphere. The collection of tiny flakes won’t accumulate but expect limited visibility and a low ceiling keeping it cold. Temperatures: Overnight lows warmed a bit holding to -12 for Crested Butte and -9 for Gunnison. Highs will struggle to break the single digits with strong inversions with CB topping out at 8 degrees and 9 for Gunni. Look for lows tonight in the negative teens. Outlook: Another pacific wave favoring southern CO will move in through Saturday with the best snow Saturday afternoon and early Sunday for our area. The dynamics for this are good but moisture is limited but we could see 6” down low with more up high. Skies will clear Sunday with more cold but sunny conditions to start the week. Cover exposed skin and respect the frostbite potential. Be sure to check the CBAC daily report before heading into the backcountry and know we saw lots of wind and heavy snow. Conditions will be dangerous so be smart. See the Info on the 20's on TV10 for more weather updates and please contribute local observations to the local weather blog at weatherblog.cbtv.tv.
